About The Rover P6 Club

rp6c logo The Rover P6 Club

The Club was born in 1993 under the name of The Rover P6 Drivers Club and in 2010 celebrated it's 17th birthday just as our beloved P6's celebrated the 47th anniversary since the launch and start of production cars. Now just as The Rover Company stayed on the cutting edge of modern developments, so to the Club has moved into the 21st century and in 2005 the Club was re-branded as THE ROVER P6 CLUB because it was felt that we were more than just drivers, we are drivers, owners and enthusiasts, keen to preserve a piece of British Heritage, and we remain the only specialist P6 Club which is run by an enthusiastic committee of volunteers who own and drive Rover P6 cars and who have a wealth of technical no how.

Spen King 1925-2010

Spen King 1925-2010 Charles Spencer 'Spen' King, one of the British motor industry's most famous, resourceful and prolific engineers, died in June as a result of injuries sustained in a collision between his bicycle and a van a fortnight earlier. He was 85.Spen King was best known as the driving force behind the original 1970 Range Rover, whose amazing balance of capabilities sparked a far stronger demand for the luxurious-yet-versatile – and ultimately iconic – 4x4 than the Land Rover management of the time ever expected. It has changed the way off-roaders are viewed, right across the world, and spawned dozens of imitations. However, King had many other strings to his bow. Born in 1925, he joined Rolls-Royce as an apprentice in 1942.

RP6C Logo The 2010 National Rally will be held at the Armitage Park, Rugeley, which is just a few miles off the M6 Motorway, in Staffordshire. We have something slightly different arranged for this year, because as well as something for the juniors, we are planning to carry out a P6 valuation day. We will have a limited number of timed slots for this so it will literately be first booked in on the day will get the valuations done on their car, but first you need to book into the National Rally itself. The purpose of this adventure is to train a few more valuers while setting a standard playing field for all valuations carried out by the club. There will of course be a few competitions to take part in and as always there will be the self judging for your favourite P6. The ‘Ladies’ and Next Generation’ also have their choice, as does our Chairman because this year’s new trophy is called ‘The Chairman’s Choice’. There will also be a Furthest Travelled and Best Everyday P6 along with Best Non P6. There are a few caravan places with power for anyone who wants to camp on site and plenty of local b&b’s. There is also a restaurant on site in the golf club itself and we will be booking an teatime / early evening buffet type meal, so there will be no need to rush off, but if you could highlight your interest in this, (to be paid for on the day). The gates are open from 09.30am  and entry is £5.00 per car payable to RP6C in advance.
