RP6C NATIONAL RALLY 2009 at COSFORD AIR MUSEUM06/09/2009 - 10:00 06/09/2009 - 17:00 Etc/GMT
The 2009 National Rally held at the Cosford Air Museum (just off Junction 3 of the M54 motorway in Shropshire) was a great success. There was a plethora of amazing cars in attendance along with the superb backdrop of one of the largest aviation collections in the UK and one of the world's most comprehensive missile collections and the cars were parked right outside the front door of the Cold War exhibition. There was truely loads to see and do. "Just some of the cars on display, what a day!"
The trophy for the furthest travelled to the event is now resident in Scotland after one member made a journey of over 350 miles to get to the event (over 700 mile round trip). The same unusual car also took home the trophy for the Members Choice Favourite P6 at the show. The trophy for ‘the best everyday’ P6 went to Manchester for a superb monza red V8, while Ladies Favourite P6 went to last years Members Favourite, a Copperleaf 2000SC. Best non P6 was supported by Triumphs, Morris 8's, Rover SD1's, P5, P4 and a pristine 800 but was a very classy black P4. This year's new trophy voted for by the juniors 'The Next Generation's Favourite P6' was won by American export 3500 with air scoops. This shows us that the younger members of the club love the modified and different cars of which there were many in attendance. One long standing member was heard to say, 'that he had never seen so many modified V8's in one place'. Several loads of auto jumble helped make the day complete along with a nice cake in the café restaurant on site. A big thank you to everyone who took part in the event and an especially big thank you to Cosford Air Museum who made us so welcome. By the way the gates are open from 10.00am everyday and other than a small parking charge, the museum entry is free, so why not have a run out and see the planes and so much more.
