P6 Estoura in Classics MonthlyOne of our members from the south west, Terry, was involved with in a photo shoot toward the end of 2008 with Classics Monthly magazine after the club was asked to supply an estoura. Here is Terry's report.
I had an interesting day on Wednesday, which all started when Mike Renaut from Classics Monthly contacted the club a few weeks ago looking for a P6 Estate. He wanted a P6 estate to go along to the Haynes Museum, Sparkford to take part in a rare estate car feature article? I was pleased to be of assistance. Anyway, I arrived there at 10 am, Mike Renaut turned up shortly after. I began to get excited when he told me that the workshop at the museum had taken the prototype SD1 estate that had been on display in the museum for 25 years, did a few jobs on the brakes and got it through an MOT. We went around to the workshops, and watched them drive it out onto the test track and then they left us to it.
A 1967 Mercedes Fin Tail Estate turned up at 11 am, who had driven down from near London and finally the photographer appeared. The professional photographer with all the expensive gear was soon busy taking action shots, the photo session went on all the morning at the museum with lots of action shots at speed. Shots were then taken of the engine bays and interior details. We had lunch in the museum restaurant then drove the 3 estates about 6 miles to a country house for more photo shots. This went on until just after 5 pm. I took quite a few pictures with my own camera, and some are reproduced here, after I checked that it would be OK to take some pictures myself. Regards Terry, and thanks for passing on the request. By markGray at 20/04/2009 - 20:42 | login or register to post comments | email this page | printer friendly version
