Evesham Festival 20072007-06-09 09:00 Etc/GMT Evesham Festival 2007.9th – 10th June 2007 2007 will mark the third year of the show. The name has been changed this year to the Evesham Festival as it now encompasses a combination of land transport, historic boats, hot air balloons, water activities and live music. The other major change is the introduction of a second day. The show is located on the banks of the River Avon in the centre of the town. The transport element will be situated in Crown Meadow. There will be river activities and a collection of historic wooden boats on display. Live music will be situated in Abbey Park and will consist of a mixture of folk, jazz, brass band and rock throughout the weekend. Clubs and individuals with interesting cars, motor bikes, tractors and trucks are all welcome to exhibit on one or both of the days. Clubs will be allocated a space in, individuals will be welcome to show. If we run out of room in Crown Meadow, which hasn’t happened yet, there is additional space on Abbey Park. The Sporting Bears Motor Club will once again have a collection of cars for static display and Dream Rides over the weekend and will be raising money for a local children’s charity, Noah’s Ark Trust. Evesham Motor Club will be running one of its popular motor meets over the weekend. They attract both four and two wheeled vehicles of all ages and always include something of interest. Both days begin at 10:30 and are free of charge for both exhibitors and visitors alike. There will be a range of local good quality refreshments for sale on both sides of the river. There is a public convenience with disabled facilities within Workman Gardens, Crown Meadow and Abbey Park. There are pleasant walks to be had along the Avon leading from the park along the meadows towards Hampton Ferry. This hand pulled pedestrian ferry to Hampton is well worth a visit and has been featured in many publications over the years. Evesham town is in walking distance and is well worth a look. A good range of shops can be found. The Almonry Museum is also worth visiting it has a collection of artefacts associated with the town and the vale including things from the old abbey. At the top of Abbey Park stands a bell tower, all that remains of the Abbey which once stood there. The Cotswolds, Stratford upon Avon, Worcester, and the Vale are worth exploring while in the area if time allows.
