Its been some time since I have been on the web site , but things have been moveing foreward even though slow. for the last 6 months my son hs been restoring the car and I must say that after all the body panels were removed the car base was in good shape. all the interia was sent away and recovered in leather including the door bins parcel shelf ect all in jaguar biscuit brown with a dark brown pipeing. the car has just had the door shurs bonet and boot resprayed in Mexico brown, the wings and other smaller items being sprayed this weekend and the following week the doors to finish with. the end product is all in the preporation and I must say what a fantastic job my son has done.

I am now returning to the problem of the cars ignition problems. I have spent many hundreds of pounds trying to resolve this issue all the work til now was done by garages as I am disabled. Firstly I found that the valve timing was out by approximately the width of the cam keyway. I then found that the wrong igntion coil was fitted, an electronic one not a ballasted unit as required. the wires on the coil were round the wrong way +/-. I then replaced the rota arm with a new red one from the distributor doctor the car runs great now. Hundreds of pounds spent with garages with parts being fitted that wer not required. just the rota arm!!

Its been a vey long time but all worth while. The car has been completed for some time now and we show her regularly through the year. The engine now has what I believe is a main bearing knock as it I get a rattle on start upp until oil pressure is there and then it starts again after about 9/10 miles on lodad. I believe it to be a mains bearing because if big ends were on the way out they would not have lasted most of the year while being driven. I have a rebuilt engine to go in at some time, but being disabled I have to rely on others!.
