brakes

I originaly asked the question about brake types in the classic rover forum but there was not a defined answer..

I have 2 rovers 1 a v8 and the other a 4 pot ,I have a parts manuals for both types of car and they suggest that some of the pads are the same,GBP217 as quoted in the 4 pot parts book.

ref RTC 9011. And GBP217 in parts book V8 RTC9022A and these part numbers are for the front pads.members were quite adament that the front pads are not interchangable but what makes things more difficult is that if you check the "e" bay site advertise front brake pads to fit both V8 and 4 pot cars,I also understand that the rear pads are the same,I should make it clear that I am talking about the later version brakes (girling)
