For All Rovers, From The Oldest To The Newest!

Now in its 30th year of (dis)organisation!

June 8, 9, 10

In 1977 I didn’t think I would still be running this event in 2007! This year there have already been enquiries from Sweden and the Netherlands, so once again it promises to be a really cosmopolitan event.

The number of regulars has been increasing each year, with attendances now hovering around the hundred mark. This year the event is based at the Beaufort Park Hotel, just outside the historic market town of Mold, and I have a few interesting things planned to celebrate the anniversary, including the NTPR Go-kart trophy races on the Saturday morning, and a cruise on the River Dee in Chester on the Sunday. Of course the usual easy treasure hunt will take place on the Saturday afternoon, following a flat route around the Vale of Clwyd!

If you have never been to an NTPR then now’s your chance, and if you’ve been in the past, even if you no longer have a Rover, we’d be delighted to see you again, especially if you attended one of the original PORTHMADOG Rallies.

The itinerary is as follows:

Friday June 8th. Arrivals during the day at the hotel, followed by dinner, and a noggin & natter in the bar.

Saturday June 9th. 9.30am departure for the short journey to the indoor kart track, and a series of races to decide the NTPR trophy. Please note!! If you are going to take part you must fill in the appropriate part of the entry form. Late entries will not be accepted!

At about 12.30pm we will leave Queensferry for a half hour journey to the lunch halt. The treasure hunt will be after lunch and will also include a visit to a museum of the fifties (the truck used in the great train robbery resides here).

Dinner will commence at 8pm and will be followed, as usual, by the presentation of trophies, both silly and serious, and, of course, the Stena Line Disaster Award.

Sunday June 10th. Departure at 10am for Chester (about a 20 minute journey). There will be a guided tour of Chester, followed by a lunch cruise on the Rover Dee, which will finish at 3pm. Those departing home now will be only ten minutes from the M56, so heading north or south is no problem. However, I have arranged for a reduced dinner, bed & breakfast rate with the hotel for Sunday evening of just £34 per person.

The cost for the event is £149 per person, which includes two nights dinner, bed and breakfast, buffet lunches Saturday & Sunday, entrance to the fifties museum, the go-kart races, the guided tour of Chester, the River Dee cruise, rally plates, 30th anniversary window stickers, and trophies. Children under 14 are free.
